Taiwanese firm InOrder Studio renovated a couple’s Taichung apartment, building out unique bespoke details that amplify the sensibilities of the residents’ personal collection of art and design.
Transforming small enclaves and transient spaces into delightful moments, the 1560 sqft apartment begins with a vestibule rooted in color-blocked tile flooring to delineate the entrance area. Moving forward into the apartment, cream tiles frame the archways, inviting the eye toward the living space.
In the main area, stepped grey marble molding crowns the room, while mustard-colored panels form the backdrop of a custom shelving and storage unit. This is where many of the homeowner’s pieces are displayed including a mint green tubular steel lounge chair, a retro speaker system and a technicolor area rug.
The mint hue reappears across the room where folding doors with circular vignettes frame a small all-green room decorated with pink furniture and art. Looking closely, dark green marble appears on the door frame and gridded tiles meet the floor, adding depth to the otherwise pastel-leaning palette.
In the kitchen, chrome surfaces and dark blue accents provide a stark contrast to the amorphous furniture that outfits the living area. Like everything else in the space, the kitchen is made to measure with unique scalloped handles attached to sleek silver cabinetry. The designers pay close attention to the hardware in the apartment, adding uniquely shaped knobs and handles throughout–such as in the bedroom where the door boasts a vertical red handle and plywood tiles form a bespoke headboard.
