EXCLUSIVE: Deadline has the first trio of stills from Hallow Road, the new psychological thriller from BAFTA winner Babak Anvari (Under the Shadow), which stars Golden Globe and Emmy winner Rosamund Pike (Saltburn) and Emmy winner Matthew Rhys (Saturday Night).
In the film, marking the first produced script by William Gillies, two parents enter a race against time when they receive a distressing late-night phone call from their daughter after she caused a tragic car accident.
We were first to report on the project, shot in Ireland and Prague, in November 2023. It was commissioned and developed by LNDN, which produced alongside Anvari’s Two & Two Pictures and XYZ Films. Lucan Toh of Two & Two Pictures produced alongside Ian Henry of London Film & TV and Richard Bolger of Hail Mary Pictures. XYZ Films and Screen Ireland co-financed.
XYZ and Two & Two reteamed here after collaborating on Anvari’s films Under the Shadow and I Came By, as well as History of Evil, from writer-director Bo Mirhosseni. Hallow Road marks the first major feature project from Henry’s London Film & TV, which since its 2018 founding, has built its reputation in unscripted, with projects such as the the dystopian doc Autonomous and How High, a documentary on Irish singer-songwriter, Mick Flannery.

Coming off a lauded turn in Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn, Pike can currently be seen starring in Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time, which returns for its third season in March. Other upcoming projects include Guy Ritchie’s In the Grey, the corporate thriller series Thumblite for Netflix, and Lionsgate’s Now You See Me 3.
After transforming himself into George Carlin for Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night, Rhys’ upcoming slate includes the Agatha Christie series Towards Zero for BritBox/BBC, Netflix’s limited series The Beast in Me opposite Claire Danes, and Prime Video’s serial killer thriller Silent River opposite John Krasinski, on which he serves as executive producer.
While Anvari has been tied to a new Cloverfield film at Paramount, the status of that project isn’t clear.
