Hacks actress Jean Smart has called on networks set to televise upcoming awards shows to forego the telecasts and instead donate the revenue to victims and firefighters affected by the L.A. wildfires.

“With ALL due respect, during Hollywood’s season of celebration, I hope any of the networks televising the upcoming awards will seriously consider NOT televising them and donating the revenue they would have garnered to victims of the fires and the firefighters,” Smart wrote and posted to Instagram. She labeled her post with an “ATTENTION” at the start. It can be read in full below.

Smart is coming off the back of winning the Golden Globe for Female Actor in a Musical or Comedy for her performance in the third season of the HBO series, which has currently paused production due to the wildfires raging in Los Angeles.

Such upcoming awards shows still to come include the Critics Choice Awards, which have been postponed due to the natural disaster, the SAG Awards and the Academy Awards, to name a few.

Smart’s post only went up a couple of hours ago but has already garnered praise on Instagram.

The post came with the Palisades fire raging uncontrollably as the state enters the second night since the disaster started. This has caused a number of awards nomination events to be delayed including the Oscars, which has moved from Friday, January 17 to Sunday, January 19.

Hacks, for which Smart has won three Emmys, is one of a ream of shows that have paused production amid the fires. Others to have ceased filming include Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, Suits LA and Abbott Elementary.

Nearly 2,000 structures have been burned across Los Angeles in the past 48 hours, 1,000 in the Palisades Fire and 972 in the Eaton Fire in and around Altadena. Additionally, in addition to the five people who have been killed in the latter blaze, five firefighters have also been injured. Of note, at least one firefighter was hurt battling the Palisades Fire.
