The Weeknd is gearing up to make his big-screen debut in an all-new suspense thriller titled Hurry Up Tomorrow. The film, which is directed by Lionsgate’s Trey Edward Shults and also stars Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, has received an official release date of May 16, 2025.
The movie, described as a “musically driven psychological thriller,” is inspired by The Weeknd’s forthcoming album and tour of the same name. The record, which is slated to be released on January 24, will arrive as the final installment in the Grammy winner’s trilogy, following 2022’s Dawn FM and 2020’s After Hours. Little is currently known about the plot of the film.
Hurry up Tomorrow is produced by The Weeknd’s Manic Phase and Reza Fahimalong with the late Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss. Executive producers include Ortega, Shults, Michael Rapino, Ryan Kroft, Wassim “Sal” Slaiby, and Harrison Huffman.
While this movie will be The Weeknd’s feature debut, the singer has experience acting for television. He starred in and co-created the HBO drama series The Idol alongside Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. He also appeared in Uncut Gems and voice-acted for a 2020 episode of American Dad.
