The Cincinnati Bengals have had a disappointing 2024 NFL season.
Currently sitting with a 6-8 record, Cincinnati is barely still in the playoff race with a six percent chance to earn a Wild Card spot.
Of the eight games they lost, seven of them were by seven points or less, meaning they were within one score from victory.
While this is particularly upsetting for Bengals fans, there has been a glimmer of hope: quarterback Joe Burrow.
Alongside wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, Burrow has been a shining star for Cincinnati, singlehandedly keeping the team in the game after the defense didn’t live up to standards.
In doing this, Burrow has set a brand-new Bengals franchise record.

After beating the Tennessee Titans 37-27, Burrow has now set the record for most touchdowns in a singular season in franchise history.
With three games left in the regular season, Burrow has thrown 36 total touchdowns. This beats the previous record of 35 touchdowns, which Burrow set in the 2022 NFL Season.

This is the latest of multiple franchise records held by Burrow, including most passing yards in a game (525), most passing yards in a season (4,611), and most 400+ yard passing games in a career (five).
Burrow also holds two NFL records: the highest career completion percentage (68.3 percent) and the most completions by a rookie in a single game (37).

Burrow currently leads the NFL in total passing touchdowns (36), total passes completed (361), total passes attempted (527), total passing yards (3,977), and passing yards per game (284.1)
If the Bengals had a better record, there’s no doubt that Burrow would be in the NFL MVP conversation.
Unfortunately, Cincinnati’s defense is making this much harder for the Pro Bowler. The Bengals are ranked 27th in passing defense (235.2 yards per game), 23rd in rushing defense (130.3 yards per game), and 29th in scoring defense (27.7 points allowed per game).
The Bengals are also ranked 30th in red zone defense, with teams scoring 66.7 percent of the time when they’re in scoring position.

Overall, Cincinnati has had 42 touchdowns scored against them this season. The only team that has allowed more is the Carolina Panthers who allowed 44.
