A fitness and lifestyle content creator from Los Angeles has gone viral for the quiet way her dad supports her.
Orey “A”, a full-time social worker who also creates fitness-related content, posted a video of her dad’s thoughtful gesture on TikTok, which shows him driving behind her while she runs at 5am.
Her dad’s unique role in her fitness journey began in June 2023 when she started running before her graduate school classes at UCLA.
“It was too dark for me to go alone, so he offered to follow behind me to ensure my safety. It’s become a special routine that not only supports my running goals but also strengthens our bond,” Orey A told Newsweek.
What started as a practical solution has now become a cherished routine for the pair. The fitness vlogger explained that her dad has always been her provider and protector, ensuring that she never has to worry about anything.
“His unwavering support, like driving behind me during my early runs, is just one example of the countless ways he shows his love and care. I’m incredibly thankful for him and everything he’s done for me throughout my life,” she said.
Orey A’s clip quickly gained traction, garnering almost 2 million views and over 3,800 comments from other social media users. Many shared their appreciation for what their dads have done for them in the past.
One user wrote that her dad would stay up with her while she studied during university so that she had some company. “He would read or watch TV until I was done. He died before I graduated,” they wrote.
Another commented that the clip reminded her of when she asked her parents if she could ride the bus at kindergarten: “They said yes but on the way home I looked out the [back] & seen my dad’s […] truck following all the way home.”
A third called her dad’s kind gesture “the definition of wealth.”
Orey A told Newsweek that she didn’t expect the reaction to her video and posted it simply as an appreciation for her dad.
“I’ve been loving the comments—they’re filled with heartfelt stories about how much people love their dads and how grateful they are for similar acts of kindness.
She added: “It’s been so heart warming to see how this video has sparked a wave of gratitude and appreciation for fathers everywhere.”
