Shep Rose is turning a new leaf, according to his Southern Charm co-star Leva Bonaparte.
The Republic Garden & Lounge owner recently stopped by DECIDER’s studio, where she teased what’s to come in Southern Charm Season 10, which is premiering tonight.
“I was really proud of Shep this year. He’s really grown up,” Bonaparte said. “I was telling my husband this the other day, like, ‘You know, I really respect Shep. He really grew into a real gentleman this year.’”
“He owns his emotions. He was doing very un-Shep-like things, like a grown man,” she continued. “Not that he wasn’t a grown man, but he had a lot of growth this year.”
Rose has been on somewhat of a spiritual journey since blacking out at BravoCon 2023 and subsequently announcing he was at a “crossroads” at the Southern Charm Season 9 reunion.
The reality star, who has been Southern Charm’s resident bachelor since the show first premiered in 2014, told People that he had a “revelatory” experience when he spent a week at the Rythmia Ayahuasca retreat in Costa Rica last January, which helped him untangle “a lot of webs” he had within himself. Rose also cut back on hard liquor, revealing at the most recent reunion that he was only drinking beer or wine.
But Rose isn’t the only one who shows a different side of himself in Season 10. Bonaparte also told us that Madison LeCroy got “really vulnerable this year,” noting that the female cast members “had some really cool moments” and that their friendships “are really solidifying.”
“I think we’re talking about things that we never really wanted to talk about, those awkward things that you kind of are like, ‘I feel this way about you, but I can’t get past this thing.’ Things you kind of are like, ‘Why does this person act this way?’” Bonaparte said.
The Southern Hospitality star, for her part, might have to walk back a comment she made about Austen Kroll allegedly running around town amid his new relationship. “I love [his girlfriend] Audrey, by the way,” she said, before adding, “I rolled that out and might have to roll it back in.”
According to Bonaparte, it was all “a matter of timeline” and it’s normal for adults to be “dating multiple people in the beginning.” Still, she pointed out that she “wasn’t happy with how” Kroll was acting after it was revealed last season that he had kissed Taylor Ann Green, Rose’s ex-girlfriend.
“I think you guys will get to see how that all transpires. And it’s not without fault on all of our ends,” Bonaparte said. “But that’s what friendship is. You get there. You get the trust back and you get there.”
Southern Charm airs on Thursday nights at 9/8c on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
