Beverly Hills is clearly where marriages go to die, because now there is not one, but two shocking splits shaking up the 90210 on this season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. One year into her separation, Kyle Richards is navigating single life now that the man of the house, her estranged husband Mauricio Umansky, has officially moved out. While she is not exactly on speaking terms with Dorit Kemsley, the latter is going through something similar as she announces her split from her husband PK Kemsley. Bravo fans have been waiting a while for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to return for Season 14 — and they are surely in for a treat.
THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS SEASON 14: STREAM IT OR SKIP IT?
Opening Shot: Season 14 opens with cinematic shots of each cast member: Dorit is sitting poolside, making out with her dog, while Erika Jayne is in a photoshoot, Kyle is working out, and Garcelle Beauvais is packing for a trip.
The Gist: It’s been a while since we’ve seen the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — and the biggest change (other than Kyle and Mauricio’s internet-breaking split) is that Dorit and PK have also decided to separate. Oh, and Kyle and Dorit can’t stand each other.
What Shows Will This Remind You Of? The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills will remind you of any Real Housewives show on Bravo. But if you’re looking for the West Coast vibes, The Real Housewives of Orange County is the next closest bet.
Our Take: The Season 14 premiere episode is something to behold. We have Dorit smoking a cigarette in her car, publicly outing her estranged husband as an alleged alcoholic, calling out Kyle’s manipulation tactics, AND wearing a plexiglass headpiece all in one episode?! I mean, reality TV doesn’t get much better than that.
Outside of Dorit’s tumultuous personal life, Kyle is dealing with her own. With Mauricio officially out of the house, Kyle is learning how to take care of everyday tasks like turning on the television and cleaning out the gutters. Plus, she finally opens up about her romantic life, admitting that while she is not in a relationship with Morgan Wade, she has been questioning her sexuality. Kyle’s frankness and bravery to open up about something so personal is what makes shows like this successful.
While Kyle and Dorit are not on the same page in their friendship, there’s no doubt that their drama (both with each other and in their respective lives) will be carrying Season 14 — and we are so here for it.
Sex and Skin: There’s no sex or skin in this episode of RHOBH.
Parting Shot: The episode ends with Kyle confronting Dorit about their issues. However, their conversation backfires on the actress as Dorit declares herself as being “done with this shit.”
Sleeper Star: I truly believe Jennifer Tilly is going to be a lot of fun for fans to watch this season. As a longtime fan of the show and close friend of Sutton Stracke, Jennifer’s eccentric personality and unfiltered thoughts will undoubtedly make her a fan favorite. However, Dorit’s immediate openness about her separation also puts her in the running to be this season’s star. We’ll just have to see how things turn out by the end!
Most Pilot-y Line: Leave it to Sutton to deliver an epic quote. While explaining how she reconciled her friendship with Kyle, she said, “I needed to reach out to Kyle because — well, one, I missed her. And then I started to see things when I was online shopping that I knew she would like and I missed sending it to her.” Shopping is always the answer — especially in Beverly Hills.
Our Call: STREAM IT. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 14 has two women navigating separations, shocking dynamic shifts, and Kathy Hilton. It’s going to be a good few months for Bravo fans.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs on Tuesday nights at 9/8c on Bravo. New episodes begin streaming the next day on Peacock.
