The Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers face off on Monday night in an exciting NBA matchup between two of the top teams in the East.
Miami will be playing on the second night of a back-to-back, as the Heat are set to face the Indiana Pacers on Sunday for the second in three days, having defeated Indiana 124-111 on Friday night. Leading the way for Miami in that victory was Bam Adebayo, who had 30 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, as well as Tyler Herro, who finished the night with 20 points and five assists in Miami’s resounding victory.
How much the Heat have left in the tank on Monday night after six straight games on the road remains to be seen, as the team will have to battle some travel-related fatigue against Philadelphia.

The 76ers, meanwhile, enter Monday night’s game 2-10 on the season, but finally have former league MVP Joel Embiid and All-Star forward Paul George back in the fold, making the team’s record a bit deceiving at the moment. The team will remain without burgeoning star Tyrese Maxey, however, who is set to miss another few days with a mild hamstring injury.
Stepping up in his absence has been rookie guard Jared McCain out of Duke, who is averaging 26.2 points and 4.0 assists over his last five games on 44.0 percent shooting from three. McCain has been looking like yet another draft-night steal for Philadelphia, as the Sixers landed the former Duke star with the 16th overall pick, reminiscent of how the team got Maxey with the 21st overall pick just a few years ago. If Philadelphia could just have better injury luck going forward, the team could prove to be a contender in the East.
Ultimately, that will come down on Embiid’s shoulders as the seven-time All-Star has had bad injury luck in his career. In the end, Philadelphia will go as far as Embiid can take it this postseason.
A great early season test for the 76ers takes place on Monday night when they travel to Miami to take on a tough and well-coached Heat team.
