After a tough Monday night home loss to the Miami Dolphins, the Los Angeles hit the road this weekend to face another AFC East opponent, the New England Patriots, on Sunday.
Los Angeles, 4-5, sits third in the NFC West behind the Arizona Cardinals (6-4) and San Francisco 49ers (5-4), making a win in Gillette Stadium vital for the Rams’ playoff chances.
On Monday, Los Angeles fell 23-15 to Miami in a tough offensive showing in which the team failed to score a single offensive touchdown. Veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 32 of 46 passes in the contest for 293 yards but had one interception to zero touchdowns.

The Patriots, meanwhile, are 3-7 thus far in the season, tied for the last in the AFC East with the New York Jets, who are also 3-7. Most recently, New England defeated reigning No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears 19-3, displaying an impressively stingy defense all game long.
New England’s own rookie signal-caller, Drake Maye out of North Carolina, was solid in the outing, completing 15 of 25 passes for 184 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Even more impressively, the Patriots’ defense held Williams to 16 of 30 passing for 120 yards and no touchdowns, totally flummoxing the rookie out of USC.
The Patriots are playing some of their best football of the season of late, winning two of their last three games, and although the playoffs seem out of reach for the team this season, the continued development of Maye for the rest of the season will be vital for the team’s future.
On Sunday, Maye faces another tough test going head-to-head against a potential future Hall-of-Fame quarterback in Stafford.
