When people talk about a “pregnancy glow,” I have to imagine they’re just referring to Jennifer Lawrence. The 34-year-old, who is currently expecting her second child with husband Cooke Maroney, was the word “glow” personified at the November 14 premiere of Bread and Roses, the AppleTV+ documentary film on which she served as an executive producer.
The actor-producer wore a black Christian Lacroix Couture gown from 2006 which appears at first glance to be strapless, with billowy, off-the-shoulder sleeves. However, on closer inspection, two delicate straps—no thicker than a single thread—are visible on Lawrence’s shoulders.
The empire waist is the perfect silhouette for pregnancy, and she further accentuated her shape by cradling her belly. The diaphanous chiffon layers and feminine ribbon details—not to mention the draped and gathered fabric at the hips—lent to the goddess vibes of the whole ensemble. A rosey complexion and silky, side-parted hair completed the look. See what I mean about the glow?!
Lawrence’s longtime stylist, Jamie Mizrahi, sourced the Christian Lacroix couture dress from Cherie Balch, owner of the vintage emporium Shrimpton Couture. According to Balch, who posted about the final look on Instagram, “Even before Jennifer and Jamie saw it in person they were head over heels. We all just KNEW!”
Balch says the dress is “amazingly rare,” and adds that it was an extra special red carpet moment given Lawrence’s pregnancy. “This dress is already beautiful on a non-pregnant body, but with a bump?!?…It turns into something that is pure MAGIC!” she wrote.
Bread and Roses, which Jennifer Lawrence produced alongside Malala Yousafzai, premieres on AppleTV+ on November 22.
