Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi described Vice President Kamala Harrisâ loss to President-elect Donald Trump as âheartbreakingâ and revealed that she had a âvery emotional conversationâ with the vice president during a recent podcast interview.
Pelosi, 84, made the comments to New York Times podcast host Lulu Garcia-Navarro, co-host of âThe Interview,â in a yet to be released episode recorded after Election Day.
Garcia-Navarro teased some of what the California Democrat told her during an appearance on CNN Thursday.
âWell, without giving too much away, she talked about the fact that this was a âheartbreakingâ loss. She used that word,â the journalist said.
âShe also said that she has spoken to the vice president and that it was a very emotional conversation â that they are friends â and that that conversation was difficult for both of them,â Garcia-Navarro added.
Pelosi appeared visibly upset Wednesday as she attended Harrisâ concession speech at Howard University.
The Bay Area Democrat had the utmost confidence in the vice presidentâs ability to defeat Trump, 78, leading up to Election Day. Â
âWe know what weâre doing,â Pelosi told MSNBC host Jen Psaki on Sunday.
âWe arenât âpredictingâ â weâre listening to voters â and they are clear: [Harris] will be president,â read a post on Pelosiâs Instagram page, spotlighting the MSNBC hit.
Garcia-Navarro noted that Harrisâ defeat has been crushing for the former House speaker, who played a central role in forcing President Biden to drop his re-election bid.
âIt is honestly a very, very difficult moment for the former speaker of the House,â she said.
