On U.S. election day, NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin turned to social media with a much-needed joke. Steering clear of politics, he chose instead to direct his public support toward a much-anticipated event in the racing world: the NASCAR Championship 4 race at Phoenix Raceway. Hamlin, who drives for the Joe Gibbs Racing team but also co-owns 23XI Racing, voiced his backing for 23XI’s Tyler Reddick.
Hamlin shared to social media earlier today:
“I’m officially endorsing the 45 team this weekend. While voting/rooting for whichever car represents you and your ideas, the 45 team most aligns with mine. Hopefully you join me in this quest for a new champion. Its time for change. Let @TylerReddick be that change.”

Since its founding, 23XI Racing, owned by Hamlin and NBA legend Michael Jordan, has aimed to cement its status in the NASCAR Cup Series. Reddick’s 2024 season has been marked by remarkable achievements. He secured the regular season title with three victories, achieving an impressive average finish of 13.4. Despite these strengths, Reddick faced challenges in the playoffs, with average finishes falling below expectations in six of the nine playoff races. Nevertheless, he has secured a spot in the Championship 4 which is set to take place this weekend in Phoenix.
The competitive field for the NASCAR Championship 4 includes formidable opponents such as Joey Logano, a two-time champion, Ryan Blaney, the current defending champion, and William Byron.
Speaking about the upcoming race and potential championship win after his Miami victory, Reddick explained:
“I don’t know, we were backed in a corner and had no other choice. I knew we were on a tire deficit, and here at Homestead, that’s a death sentence, but I didn’t care.
“We did what it took to win this race, and we’re fighting for a championship.
“I couldn’t believe it. I just knew I needed to get even with him on his right side door, and he raced me clean, and I appreciate it. I’m just really, really excited having a shot at the championship.”
Jordan also commented on Reddick’s win which secured his place in the championship fight:
“Little kid [Reddick] drove his a** off, and I’m proud of him. He didn’t let go. He just went for it, and we needed it. We needed it.”
He also commented in a separate interview:
“It would mean the world [to win a championship for Michael Jordan].
“We thankfully can take off for Martinsville a little bit, get ready for Phoenix. But we’re pumped.”
