Melania Trump on Tuesday voted alongside her husband Donald Trump near Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
As Trump, the GOP presidential nominee, faces off against Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, Melania Trump shared on social media that she voted by posting an image of a sticker poll workers hand out to those who submit their ballots.
Where Did Melania and Donald Trump Vote?
Melania and Donald Trump cast their votes at the Mandel Recreation Center in Palm Beach on Tuesday. According to The Palm Beach Post, the couple then planned to go to Donald Trump’s private club Mar-a-Lago.
Melania Trump shared a picture of her “I voted” sticker on X, formerly Twitter, with a caption of the American Flag emoji.
Melania’s Appearances During the 2024 Campaign
The former first lady’s vote comes after she largely stayed out of the public eye during her husband’s 2024 presidential campaign. This is in contrast to the 2016 and 2020 elections, when she made several public appearances alongside her spouse.
Melania Trump has missed several large events, including Trump’s Super Tuesday primary election victory party, and she has been absent from the courtroom amid his legal cases such as his hush money trial in New York.
However, she has more recently ramped up her appearances within the past few weeks.
In late October, the former first lady made a rare appearance at a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, where she was introduced by SpaceX founder Elon Musk, one of Donald Trump’s biggest supporters.
During the rally, Melania Trump walked out and waved to the music of “Paradise City” by Guns N’ Roses, despite the band’s singer, Axl Rose, being a vocal critic of the Republican nominee. It was the first time she had made an official campaign stop since her appearance at the Republican National Convention over the summer.
However, she has been involved in private events, such as hosting a fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans at Trump Tower in New York City and another fundraiser with her husband at investor John Paulson’s home.
What Happened After the Trumps Voted?
After casting his ballot on Tuesday, the former president was asked twice about a proposed measure in Florida. If passed, the measure would bar lawmakers from enacting laws that penalize, prohibit, delay or restrict abortion until a fetus reaches viability—a stage that medical experts estimate occurs after approximately 21 weeks.
If the measure is rejected, Florida’s restrictive six-week abortion law will remain in effect.
When first asked about the measure, Trump sidestepped the question, saying instead that he had done “a great job bringing it back to the states.” The comment seemingly referred to his role in appointing three conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court, which contributed to the 2022 overturning of the landmark Roe v. Wade decision.
When pressed a second time, Trump responded sharply, telling a reporter, “You should stop talking about it.”
