Even with Netflix’s recommendation algorithm serving you new movies, new TV shows, and original programming tailored to your viewing habits, the streaming service’s fire hose of content makes what’s coming difficult to parse.
We’re getting a head start on holiday movies this month, including but not limited to a movie where Lacey Chabert falls in love with a snowman, one where a small town puts on a Magic Mike-esque show, and a special holiday-themed run of Is it Cake? Also Arcane season 2 finally arrives on Netflix — in three separate acts for maximum drama. There’s also six of the Fast and Furious movies, a smattering of good rom-coms, and a new season of Outer Banks.
Editor’s Pick: The Lost City
Director: Adam and Aaron NeeCast: Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe
The Lost City is an archeological adventure movie and a romantic comedy — and it’s very good at being both of those things. Sandra Bullock stars as Loretta Sage, an archaeologist who found success in writing a series of pulpy romance novels, though she longs to get back into the field. Channing Tatum plays Alan, the model appearing on the cover of Loretta’s books. While he portrays a swoonworthy hero, he’s not exactly as action-orientated as his alter ego. When Loretta is kidnapped by an egotistical billionaire bent on uncovering lost treasure, Alan decides to prove his worth to Loretta and dives right into a rescue mission. Hilarity ensues. Sparks fly. Ancient treasures are uncovered, but, like, in as ethical of a way as possible. The Lost City arrives on Netflix Nov. 9.
