Thirty years after the release of Forrest Gump, stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright are reuniting with director Robert Zemeckis for a new movie that’s guaranteed to make you cry, called Here.
Directed by Zemeckis, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Forrest Gump writer Eric Roth, Here chronicles the many lives and stories that take place over many decades in a single household. It’s not actually a Forrest Gump sequel—the story is based on the 2014 graphic novel by Richard McGuire—but it certainly feels like Gump‘s spiritual successor.
Hanks and Wright star as a married couple, Richard and Margaret Young, while Paul Bettany and Kelly Reilly star as Richard’s parents, Al and Rose. The film has been met with positive reviews from critics so far, and will no doubt be a crowd-pleaser for families looking for a holiday watch.

The Tom Hanks movie Here will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. nationwide on Friday, November 1. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Here is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Is the Here movie streaming on Netflix or HBO’s Max?
Here is not currently streaming on Netflix or Max, because the movie is being released in theaters, only. Right now, the only way to watch Here is in a movie theater. That said, because Here is a Sony movie—being released by the Sony TriStar Pictures—we do expect to see it streaming on Netflix eventually.
Here likely will not come to Max, the streamer owner by Warner Bros., because it is not a Warner Bros. movie. You will be able to purchase Tom Hank’s movie Here on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Here on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription. If you want to watch Here movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Netflix.
When will the Tom Hanks movie Here be streaming on Netflix?
Here will likely be on Netflix sometime in early 2025. Netflix has a deal with Sony Pictures that gives the streamer the rights to the Sony movies in the “Pay 1” window, meaning the first streaming window after the film’s home media release. Other recent Sony movies, including The Garfield Movie and Bad Boys: Ride or Die, came to Netflix about four months after opening in theaters.
If Here follows this same release pattern, you can expect the new Tom Hanks movie to stream on Netflix around early March 2025, aka four months after the movie opened in theaters. In the meantime, you can go watch the movie in theaters.
