Chris Dinan has been named the new executive producer of World News Tonight with David Muir.
Dinan succeeds Almin Karamehmedovic, who was named president of ABC News in August.
Dinan has been senior broadcast producer of the newscast since 2014, and joined the network in 2011.
The network also said that senior producers Enjoli Francis, Jennifer Metz and Brian Reiferson will take on additional live broadcasting duties in the control room.
World News Tonight is the top rated newscast, and at times is the most-watched show on TV. In a memo to staffers, Karamehmedovic wrote that Dinan “brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to his new role. I have complete faith that, alongside the incredible World News Tonight team, he will help us continue our legacy as the No. 1 newscast for nine consecutive years and counting.”
Karamehmedovic also cited Dinan’s experience covering war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the Covid pandemic and the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.
