Vice President Kamala Harris refused to answer Friday when asked for at least the fourth time what she would have done differently than President Biden.
Harris, 59, cited a nebulous âtraditionâ of vice presidents not being âcriticalâ of their bosses when queried by NBC News reporter Peter Alexander during a campaign swing through Michigan.
âI mean to be very candid with you â you, even including Mike Pence â um â vice presidents are not critical of their presidents,â Harris began.
âI think that really, actually, in terms of the tradition of it and also just going forward it does not make for [a] productive and important relationship,â she added.
Harris was first asked the question earlier this month during an appearance on ABC News’ âThe Viewâ and gave a different response â which is now being used against her by the Trump campaign.
âThere is not a thing that comes to mind in terms of â and Iâve been a part of â of the decisions that have had impact,â the veep told the all-woman panel on Oct 8.
Later that same day, Harris was asked by CBS late-night host Stephen Colbert: “You are a member of the present administration, but under a Harris administration, what would the major changes be, and what would stay the same?”
“Sure, well, Iâm obviously not Joe Biden,” Harris ducked before adding: “So that would be one change in terms of â but also I think itâs important to say with 28 days to go, Iâm not Donald Trump.”
âLet me be very clear, my presidency will not be a continuation of Joe Bidenâs presidency,â the vice president told Fox News âSpecial Reportâ host Bret Baier in an interview that aired Wednesday night.
âLike every new president that comes in to office, I will bring my life experiences, my professional experiences and fresh and new ideas,â she added.
Harris’ stumbling answer to Alexander’s question Friday drew amazed responses from critics on social media.
“She’s the candidate now, and her most recent answer to this question is that her presidency will be different. Yet she can’t explain how. Even PETER ALEXANDER is tripping her up,” one user wrote. “Was she this bad at campaigning in 2020?”
Another X user put it more succinctly: “How is she still incapable of answering this question?!”
