The Cleveland Browns 2024 season has not gone according to plan. On Sunday, the Browns dropped their fifth game of the season to the Philadelphia Eagles, 20-16.
That loss moves the Browns to 1-5 and last place in the AFC North. Nothing has gone the Browns’ way thus far, and this stat shared by ESPN’s Field Yates reflects that.
Yates shared that the Browns have become the first team in 10 years to score under 20 points in each of its first 6 games of the season.

On top of that, the Browns have only scored once in its last 29 drives.
The only touchdown for the Browns on Sunday against the Eagles was a 50-yard touchdown return off a blocked field goal and returned by Rodney McLeod Jr. That touchdown had tied the game 10-10; however, the offense failed to get in the end zone as their next six points came via field goal.
Last week, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski decided to continue the play-calling duties, but it has not worked out well for him. The Browns tallied only 244 total yards and 14 touchdowns. Although they controlled the time of possession, having the ball for 31:27 compared to the Eagles 28:33, it wasn’t enough to come out on top.
The Browns have lost four consecutive games, have zero games with 20+ points, and have zero games with 200+ passing yards. These numbers and stats tell the whole story. The Browns are ranked 30th in points per game (15.8), 32nd in yards per game (239.4), 32nd in yards per play (3.8), 28th in touchdowns per game (1.8), and 32nd in third-down conversion percentage (18.1%).
Quarterback Deshaun Watson has not been the quarterback that Cleveland had hoped for. In Sunday’s contest, he completed 16-of-23 passes for 168 passing yards, zero touchdowns, zero interceptions, and was sacked five times with a 90.5 passer rating.
Sunday’s contest was a bit of a microcosm of Watson’s season. In six starts this season, Watson has completed 106 of 176 passes for a completion percentage of 60.2 percent, 852 passing yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions with a 74.8 passer rating.
The Browns offense has been a major disappointment, and it’s been tough to watch. With weapons like Amari Cooper, David Njoku, Jerome Ford, and Watson, one would think that the Browns would pick up right where they left off last season.
Cleveland’s star running back, Nick Chubb, is set to return next week, and hopefully, that will provide a spark for the Browns’ offense, which is desperate for any help.
