Jimmy Kimmel called Donald Trump out for trying – and failing – to overturn the 2020 election, as detailed in a damning new report from Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Kimmel said Trump had a meltdown on his social media platform, Truth Social, where he ranted against the report and denied any wrongdoing in a post written in all-caps.
“‘All Caps-ian America’ hit Truth Social hard last night,” Kimmel joked. “He’s highly upset about the 165 pages of incriminating evidence the judge released yesterday.”
Kimmel shared a screenshot of the post, in which Trump called the case “a scam.”
“Trump is what, 78 years old? Do you think he knows he can double tap the shift button on his phone or is he pressing it between each letter?” Kimmel asked the Live audience. “I bet it’s number two, I really do.”
He continued, “In an interesting twist, Trump says it wasn’t him trying to over turn the election – even though they have him on tape doing just that – it was them.”
He then shared a clip of Trump claiming it was left who “rigged” the election, a defense that Kimmel dubbed, “The old ‘he who smelt it dealt it’ defense.”
“He’s actually right about some of that,” Kimmel admitted. “He didn’t rig the election, he tried to rig the election and failed to rig the election. He’s a rig-noramus is what he is.”
Kimmel outlined shocking details from the report during a recent broadcast where he specifically pointed out just how much Trump “pressured” Mike Pence into helping him overturn the election.
“There were meetings, phone calls, text messages. Mike Pence was basically Trump’s Baby Reindeer,” he joked, referring to the award-winning Netflix show about a man dealing with a female stalker.
The report made it seem like Pence “tried everything to steer [Trump] right,” but, “Benedict Arnold was relentless,” Kimmel said.
