Let us all bow our heads in remembrance of Blake Lively’s floral era, which is apparently no longer with us. The actor was spotted out in New York City with her husband Ryan Reynolds wearing all black, perhaps in mourning for the non-stop flowers she’d been wearing to promote It Ends With Us, in which she played a florist named Lily Bloom.
In the photos taken on September 17 (published in Page Six), Lively wears a black t-shirt tucked into black denim cargo pants with chunky black boots—a surprisingly punk-ish look for her. She accessorized the look with a black-and-white Chanel crossbody bag and a colorful charm necklace. Reynolds, meanwhile, paired his black shirt with green pants and brown shoes, so perhaps he is only in half-mourning.
For months, Blake Lively has worn nothing but floral outfits, usually in colorful, girly shades of pink or baby blue. But even at her most casual, Lively’s street style has tended toward the softer, more feminine side of women’s fashion. But as we can clearly see here, she is also capable of branching out into the mildly emo. That said, don’t expect to see Lively rocking anything other than her long, wavy mermaid hair any time soon. She may be done with Lily Bloom, but she still has a haircare line to promote, after all.
