EXCLUSIVE: Peter Chernin’s North Road Company is returning to the Israeli TV market with a medical thriller starring Tehran‘s Niv Sultan.
North Road has re-teamed with Israeli producer Sipur and local network Hot – its partners on juvenile prison series Bad Boy – for Heart of a Killer, the outfit’s second international co-pro. Endemol Shine Israel is also producing.
Now in principal photography, Heart of a Killer follows Dr. Dasi Nakash, played by Sultan, a promising transplant surgeon who turns to illicit organ harvesting after a desperate act to save a friend wronged by the hospital. This incident draws her into a whirlwind of moral dilemmas, patient rescues and conflicts with the underworld of the medical establishment.
The show is created by Gal Zaid (Valley of Tears), Roni Yaddor and Laid Shoham, and directed by Evgeny Ruman (East Side).

Sultan is a big draw. She is best known for Apple TV+ hit Tehran, in which she plays Tamar Rabinyan, a young Mossad agent and computer hacker.
North Road International President Jan David Frouman said: “We couldn’t be more thrilled to have the opportunity to once again partner with Sipur and Hot to bring this incredibly compelling story from Gal, Roni, Laid, Evgeny and the entire creative team to audiences around the world.”
Sipur CEO Emilio Schenker added that his indie is “excited to continue our rewarding relationship with North Road and Hot by reuniting for this fantastic new scripted, ready-made, high-quality format.”
The news comes more than a year after North Road, Sipur and Hot unveiled Bad Boy from Euphoria creator Ron Leshem, which was North Road’s debut international co-pro. Speaking to Deadline last year, Leshem explained the intriguing story behind Bad Boy, which harked back to his time as an investigative journalist.
North Road was launched in 2022 by Chernin, a former Chairman and CEO of the Fox Group, bringing together Chernin Entertainment, the U.S. assets of Red Arrow Studios, which includes Love Is Blind producer Kinetic Content, and Connor Schell’s non-scripted business Words + Pictures. It has since acquired Jason Hehir’s Little Rooms Films and Turkish outfit Karga Seven, and taken a “significant stake” in Questlove’s Two One Five Entertainment.
Sipur is the studio behind We Will Dance Again, the documentary about the Israeli Nova Music Festival where youngsters were killed and kidnapped on October 7, which will soon launch on BBC Storyville.
Heart of a Killer is executive produced by Amir Ganor for Endemol Shine Israel, Frouman for North Road, Schenker, Michael Schmidt and Gideon Tadmor for Sipur; and Ori Gal, Dana Mendlinger and Mirit Toovi for Hot. The deal was negotiated by Ziffren Brittenham for North Road and Michael Schmidt and Daphna Bar for Sipur.
