Jon Bon Jovi may have saved a life this week when he helped a distraught woman, who appeared to be preparing to jump off of a bridge in Nashville, back to the right side of the railing safely.
Released video footage of the Tuesday incident shows the woman facing outward, on the wrong side of the railing, when Bon Jovi and another person—later identified as a production assistant on the music video he was shooting on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge—approach her. They talk with her for a short period of time before helping lift her back over the railing, then walk as a group toward law enforcement officers.
The Metro Nashville Police Department saluted the rocker in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, saying of the woman “Bon Jovi helped persuade her to come off the ledge over the Cumberland River to safety.” In the tweet, police chief John Drake said, “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”

CNN reported that the woman was taken to the hospital for evaluation once safe.
The singer founded his JBJ Soul Foundation, which focuses on helping people in crisis situations including homelessness and hunger, in 2006, and has had training and experience handling crises.
Bon Jovi declined to comment, citing respect for the woman’s privacy, but a source close to him said that he saw a situation where he thought he could help someone and offered his hand.
