From Saturday Night Live to soap operas, Sarah Sherman is checking off another career bucket list item.
DECIDER can confirm that the comedian and actress is taking on the role of Ms. Finch on two episodes of General Hospital, which are slated to air this Thursday (Sept. 5) and Friday (Sept. 6).
People was the first to break the news. The outlet describes her role as “a spirited etiquette teacher for Lois Cerullo,” who is played by Rena Sofer.
A clip obtained by People shows Sherman acting alongside series stars Sofer, Lisa LoCicero, Amanda Setton, Jane Elliot, and Wally Kurth.
In a statement to People, Sherman gushed that she “had the best time of [her] life” and couldn’t believe” she got the chance to share a scene with Elliot’s Tracy Quartermaine.
“I was so nervous about flubbing my lines, because I was surrounded by pros who memorize like a billion pages of dialogue a day,” she continued. “Also I met ‘Sonny Corinthos’ [Maurice Benard] so I can die happy!”
This development arrives shortly after news that tenured General Hospital star Kelly Monaco is reportedly exiting the series this fall. Per a report from Soap Opera Network, her character, Sam McCall, is being killed off. Meanwhile Michael Easton announced in June that he was bidding farewell to the show.
The ABC soap is currently airing its 61st season, which has already featured role reprisals from Jonathan Jackson (who plays Lucky Spencer) and Rick Hearst (who plays Ric Lansing), per Entertainment Weekly.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
