Looking for Quenepa Berries in Genshin Impact? Alongside the release of Natlan, the fiery Pyro nation, Genshin Impact 5.0 added several new materials. One of the most important of those is the Quenepa Berry, a local specialty needed to ascend the Natlan-based character Kachina.
As is usually the case with Genshin Impact materials, it’ll take a bit of searching to find the best Quenepa Berry farming spots. To save you some time, here’s how to find Quenepa Berries in Genshin Impact and how to give Kachina the ascension upgrades she deserves.
Quenepa Berry uses in Genshin Impact
Quenepa Berries are a “local specialty,” which means this material can only be found in one region: Natlan, in this case.
Quenepa Berries are primarily used as a character ascension material; if a character reaches a leveling ‘threshold’ (at level 20, 40, and 50, for example), you must give them a certain amount of ascension materials to unlock further upgrades. Beware that only a few characters use Quenepa Berries as their ascension material. Before you start farming them, make sure you’ve got at least one such character — for now, Kachina is the only one who needs Quenepa Berries, but more characters will follow with future updates.
Besides character ascension, Quenepa Berries may be used in various recipes, including the crafting recipe for the Pyroculus Resonance Stone, which is used to reveal Pyroculi locations on the map. It’ll take 168 Quenepa Berries to reach the highest character ascension level (just 108 if you’re happy with a max level of 80) but you’ll need only five Berries to craft the Pyroculus Resonance Stone.
Where to find Quenepa Berries
While exploring Natlan in Genshin Impact, be on the lookout for the small green plants holding three shiny light blue berries; these are the Quenepa Berry plants. They’re relatively easy to spot, but you can only find them around Coatepec Mountain and the Scions of the Canopy settlement.
To easily discover the best Quenepa Berry farming spots, collect at least one Berry, open your inventory, and go to the “materials” page. Select the Quenepa Berry and choose “go to collect.” Thanks to a farming feature added in Genshin Impact 5.0, you will see the Quenepa Berry’s spawn areas on your map. As the markers aren’t very precise, you may want to use our Quenepa Berry farming route below to find them more efficiently.
Best Quenepa Berry farming route
If you’d like to gather Quenepa Berries as quickly as possible, we’ve got a handy farming route to help you out, which yields up to 81 Quenepa Berries. Beware that one Quenepa Berry farming spot is locked behind a world quest, “Ripe for Trouble.” There are only nine Berries there, so it’s not much of a problem if you can’t grab them yet.
We’ll start our Quenepa Berry farming route at a Tequemecan Valley teleport waypoint, south of the Sulfurous Veins and north of the Ancient Watchtower Domain. You can pluck a total of 24 Quenepa Berries (eight plants) here.
For the first Quenepa Berry plant, look east; it’s on the other side of the river. Follow the river upstream and you’ll see the next two Quenepa Berry plants on your right, next to the large blue bubble plants (shown in the picture above). Continue following the river east, up the waterfall, to find two more plants.
The remaining three plants are next to the underground waypoint in the south, but beware that you must’ve started the Ripe for Trouble world quest to access this place. To do so, walk east from the initial teleport waypoint, drop down the narrow chasm, and speak with an NPC named Tisoc. As he won’t let you enter the cave, fast-travel to the central teleport waypoint in Scions of the Canopy and collect the “Green Pass” from a wooden chest next to this waypoint. Return to Tisoc’s cave, where you must speak with a woman named Poca to enter.
For the next batch of Quenepa Berries, fast travel to the waypoint northeast of the Ancestral Temple. From there, glide down toward the north to find the first Quenepa Berry plant, then follow the road southwest to find three more plants (very close to the path, easy to spot). This location yields 12 Quenepa Berries.
There are 27 Quenepa Berries around Teticpac Peak. Start from the teleport waypoint in the southeast (top of the mountain) and glide east; the first two Berry Plants are near the Hilichurl Encampment below you. Grab the first one, then turn around the corner to the right for the second.
Walk to the north to find two Quenepa Berry plants: one in front of the stone ruin, and one behind it (see picture above). Go back to the teleport waypoint and run in a straight line west to find another Quenepa Berry plant near the water’s edge. Walk a bit further north; there’s another plant on the other side of the shallow lake.
Keep going north, past the teleport waypoint, and jump to the slightly lower ledge to find the next plant on your right (still close to the trees and rocks). Continue north to find two more Quenepa Berry plants at the edge of the cliff.
Starting from the northern Teticpac Peak waypoint, run west and glide down. Be sure to turn around in the air and glide through the cave opening with the waterfall. The Quenepa Berry plant is next to this waterfall. From here, glide to the northwest into another large cave opening, where you’ll see five Quenepa Berry plants below you, near the river. This section of our Quenepa Berry farming route will get you a total of 18 Quenepa Berries.
Extra Quenepa Berry locations
There are a few more ways to get Quenepa Berries. First, you may want to visit the small encampment southeast of the Statue of the Seven shown in the picture (north of the Scions of the Canopy), as it contains four berries (loose ones, not growing on plants and unlikely to respawn). Further downriver, at the top of a waterfall, you’ll find three more berries lying on the ground.
You can also buy Quenepa Berries from a merchant in the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. His name is Cintli and he only sells five berries at a time, but he’ll restock after a few days.
