Another Bravo couple is getting divorced. Six months after announcing their separation, Brittany Cartwright has officially filed to legally end her marriage with Jax Taylor.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Cartwright cited irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their split — which came five years after they tied the knot at a Kentucky castle. She is also seeking primary legal and physical custody of their three-year-old son Cruz, but is open to visitation for Taylor.
Cartwright and Taylor began dating in 2015 while they were still on Vanderpump Rules. Despite Taylor’s past infidelity, they got engaged in 2018 and got married the following year.
The estranged couple announced in February of this year that they were separating, with the fallout being documented in the season finale of The Valley.
“I know that I’ve put up with a lot of crap that Jax has put me through, but I wouldn’t have Cruz if I had gotten rid of him a long time ago,” Cartwright explained in the episode. “So now I just think that now that I have Cruz and I’ve woken up from the situation, I just feel like, for his sake and for my mental health, I just can’t stay here anymore.”
The news that Cartwright filed for divorce came shortly after Taylor spent 30 days in an in-patient treatment center for his “mental health struggles” in light of his separation.
Amid his stay at the facility, Cartwright called him out for claiming that he was donating his Cameo proceeds to a charity fighting cancer. “Just realized Jax has this on his Cameo and it’s disgusting because he hasn’t donated a dime. FYI,” she wrote on social media.
Now that Taylor has returned home, he is back to filming the second season of The Valley — which is sure to have plenty of drama when it returns to Bravo.
Cartwright and Taylor’s rep had no comment when we reached out to them.
