A mother was among three people arrested last week after her 6-year-old son was attacked by a pit bull while his hands and feet were handcuffed inside an Ohio home, according to police.
The young boy was bitten on the neck and ear on Aug. 17 around 5 p.m., and was airlifted to a hospital from the Savannah house in serious condition, the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office said.
Following the attack, sheriff investigators learned the boy’s hands and feet were restrained when the vicious dog launched at him, authorities said.
A search warrant on the house where the attack took place uncovered evidence that led to the arrest of the boy’s mother, Angelina Williams, and Robert Michalski Jr., who is believed to be the boy’s great uncle, on Aug. 19, according to a WOIO report.
“I come in, I look at my grandson who’s sitting on the floor and not to cuss, but why the f–k does he have handcuffs on,” the boy’s grandmother told the station. “I said get them off of him now.”
The grandparent reached in to help her grandson and was slightly injured during the ordeal.
Williams, who is from Cleveland, was living in the house with a family member of Michalski, who owned the house and the dog.
He was found hiding in a cubby hole upstairs in the home with the dog before he was taken into custody.
Michalski and his pooch allegedly fled from the home when authorities responded to the incident before later returning.
The mom’s boyfriend Taylor Desiree Marvin-Brown was also arrested after he allegedly helped restrain the boy, the sheriff’s office said.
The pit bull was also taken away by law enforcement, according to the sheriff’s office.
Williams is charged with endangering children while Michalski was hit with endangering children and tampering with evidence charges, WOIO reported.
Marvin-Brown is reportedly facing endangering children and obstruction of justice charges.
