A 30-year-old man was fatally stabbed during a Saturday afternoon brawl on a subway train in the Bronx, police and sources told The Post.
The victim and a 36-year-old career criminal got into a squabble on a northbound 2 train around 3:20 p.m. near the 3rd Avenue-E. 149th Street subway station in the South Bronx, cops said.
During the altercation, the 36-year-old man stabbed the 30-year-old man in the chest with a knife.
The victim was rushed to Lincoln Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police sources.
His name is being withheld pending family notification, police said.
The 36-year-old man was taken into custody at the subway station.
The suspect has nine previous arrests including an attempted rape in Brooklyn in 2009, police sources said. Armed with a knife, he kicked in a woman’s door and punched her in the face before sexually assaulting her, sources said.
In 2017, the alleged stabber flashed a knife during a verbal dispute in Brooklyn and pursued the victim for several blocks, according to sources.
Saturday’s deadly incident is the latest in a string of subway stabbings across the Big Apple.
On Tuesday, a maniac stabbed a 52-year-old man waiting for a northbound 6 train on the platform East. 96th Street and Lexington Avenue Avenue around 3:30 in the morning.
The assailant approached the victim and started arguing before stabbing him in the neck with an unknown object, police said. The man was taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition and no arrests have been made.
On Monday, a box-cutter-wielding assailant slashed a 29-year-old man on the arm during a clash on board a southbound No. 4 train at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall Station on Monday evening, cops and sources said.
That victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. The suspect has not been arrested.
