The Philadelphia Eagles made a significant trade just before the start of the 2024 season, acquiring wide receiver Jahan Dotson.

Dotson was traded from the Commanders to the Eagles on Thursday and is set to make a significant impact in a loaded offense. Although the Eagles and Commanders have been rivals for decades on end, with them being in the same division, the NFC East, the Commanders still decided to help out their bitter rival.
Nevertheless, what is done is done, and that’s the approach Dotson is taking regarding the trade. Dotson caught up with the Philadelphia media and said he isn’t going to dwell on the trade, but he will take it personally when his new team faces his old team.
“I talked to coach Dan Quinn and Mr. Adam Peters and they told me they think very highly of me,” Dotson said. “It was kind of just something that happens, you know. These things happen all the time in the NFL. I’m not going to take it personal until I see Washington.”

Dotson also said that he was shocked to see that he had been traded.
“It was a shock, you know? Just because all I know in the NFL is Washington Commanders,” he said. “But at the end of the day, it’s a business, and I understand that very much so.”
Nonetheless, Dotson said that he is excited to be in Philadelphia.
“Being out here today and being on the field and kind of taking it all in a little bit, I’m very excited,” Dotson said. “Like, I got goosebumps leaving the field today. Growing up only an hour and a half away from here (in Nazareth, PA), you understand the passion. You understand how much people care about the Eagles. Seeing the fans go crazy literally after a third preseason game, it was exciting.
“It got me a little excited to be here.”
The Commanders drafted Dotson in the 2022 NFL Draft with the No. 16 overall pick in the first round. He only spent two seasons with the Commanders, where he recorded 84 receptions on 144 targets for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 12.4 yards per reception. The 24-year-old has dealt with his fair share of injuries, but nonetheless, he has been an explosive weapon for the Commanders.
Now, with Dotson on their side, the Eagles will look to take the offense to the next level. The offense is already loaded with talent, highlighted by quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and running back Saquon Barkley.
The Eagles will look to reclaim their NFC East supremacy and get back to the promised land.
