Today co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager have taken many adventures together for the show, but few have been as daring as the Polar Plunge they did together in 2022.
The segment showed Bush Hager diving head-first into the icy water, while Kotb simply dipped her head in and ran back to the beach.
“Wait, what? You didn’t dive?” Bush Hager asked Kotb when they watched the segment together on the show in 2022. “I thought you said we were going to dive together! All you did was just put your head gently in.”
Kotb attempted to defend herself through her laughter, noting she was still “all the way soaking wet.”
The co-hosts once again looked back on that adventure during Thursday’s (Aug. 22) wellness-focused broadcast while revisiting a recent segment they did on cold therapy.
“No, it wasn’t that polar plunge, we all know how that one went,” Bush Hager said, subtly throwing shade at Kotb, who rolled her eyes in response. “I promised I wouldn’t bring it up! This time, we decided to try cold therapy.”
The segment showed Kotb and Bush Hager attempting a cold plunge together at a cold therapy center in New York City.
Kotb prefaced the segment with a warning to her co-host and the Today camera crew. “I don’t wanna bring up the Polar Plunge and if Jenna brings it up, I want you to turn off the camera immediately,” she joked.
The camera then cut to Bush Hager, who claimed, “I heard that Hoda was trying to censor me.”
Despite the drama, the co-hosts successfully completed the cold plunge together in the same tub, lasting a whole two minutes and 30 seconds in the ice bath.
“I get why it’s good to do it with a partner,” Kotb said after they finished the challenge. “Because when I looked at you, I was like, ‘Jenna’s calm, we’re calm, we’re okay.’”
