You’s Joe Goldberg is many things — a serial killer, pathological liar, chauvinist — but the actor who plays him, Penn Badgley, is “very demure, very mindful” when he shows up to his last day of filming on the hit Netflix thriller series.
The Gossip Girl actor announced the wrapping of the darkly comedic show in a TikTok that recreated the trend first originated by content creator Jools Lebron, whose instructional video on how to show up to work in a “respectful” and “modest” manner has since taken off — being copied by everyone from the White House team to Jennifer Lopez — allowing her to pay for her gender transition surgery.
“See how I show up to work? Very demure, very mindful,” Badgley begins in the video, mimicking Lebron’s cadence as he carries hefty garment bags.
“I don’t really do too much when I’m at work. I’m very mindful,” he continues before a still of his character screaming in a glass cage (Goldberg’s preferred method of trapping his victims) pops up.
“Playing a romantic icon for five seasons, I’m very modest, I’m very mindful,” the Easy A actor adds, joking about how his character has been romanticized in the past.
“You see my shirt? Showing the shoulders, not the boulders,” he concludes, which parodies Lebron’s version of “You see my shirt? Only a little chi-chi out, not my cho-cho.”
As previously reported by Deadline, You Season 5 will be the last installment of the popular series. It wraps up a long-gestating storyline in which Joe may finally face justice for his laundry list of heinous crimes. At the end of last season, Joe returned to his roots in New York with rich widow Kate (Charlotte Ritchie), gaining all the privilege and protection that wealth allows.
