Since tying the knot on The Real Housewives of Dubai‘s inaugural season, Caroline Stanbury and Sergio Carrallo have become one of Bravo’s most beloved couples. Their witty banter and oftentimes too-close-for-comfort relationship (ie: Carrallo’s desire for a double loo) has certainly become a source of entertainment for fans. And while their house is filled to the brim with marital bliss, it also happens to be the setting for one of the biggest arguments the series has seen — and it certainly wasn’t between the happy couple!
In Season 2, Episode 7 — titled “The Beauty and the Beggar” — Caroline Brooks walks into Stanbury and Carrallo’s housewarming party with sage in hand. However, the sage wasn’t enough to stop the bad vibes from seeping through as Brooks engaged in a screaming match with Taleen Marie and her husband Raffi Khanoyan.
As for whether Stanbury and Carrallo have conducted another cleanse of their house since that fateful evening, the Ladies of London alum told DECIDER, “Do you know what’s terrible? I did.”
Carrallo revealed that they now have “candles everywhere,” while Stanbury added, “And then we went and we bought crystals. We actually bought good energy, we bought one for protection, one for lies. I bought the store and re-energized my house and that won’t be happening again.”
Perhaps all those knick-knacks will also help Carrallo manifest a baby. Stanbury joked that her husband’s “ovaries are on fire” and while she would be “quite happy not to see a baby right now,” Carrallo has made a “pact with his father that [she’ll] never have to lift a finger” when it comes to caring for their future child.
“We’re two against one now, which is good,” Carrallo quipped.
Stanbury and Carrallo recently stopped by DECIDER’s offices (not in matching pajamas, unfortunately), where they dished on the drama that’s currently playing out on The Real Housewives of Dubai Season 2. Check out the full interview below.
DECIDER: How are you feeling so far about this Bali trip?
CAROLINE STANBURY: Well, I mean, obviously you’ve all seen me throw the bomb – which I kind of wish maybe I hadn’t now. It slightly backfired on me. But Bali, it was like Girls Gone Wild, we had a lot of fun.
I loved to see you get up and dance when that ‘80s song came on! Do you remember what song got you out of your seat?
CS: Oh my god, I can’t remember. It was anything I could sing to. I spent the whole night drinking whatever that petrol was and saying I can’t dance. And then the next thing I know, I don’t know what happened to me, I think I crowd surfed after that too. So I’m quite glad they cut that out.
SERGIO CARRALLO: She called me and she was on the back of a motorcycle with Fabio. And I’m like, “Honey, who’s Fabio?”
CS: No, I named him Fabio. But he looked like Fabio, Brooks’ new love interest in Bali.
I thought it was so funny how she was talking to him and then you guys were at the next location and he was there.
CS: Yes, yes! Oh, god. I think he had the time of his life.
On the other hand, there was a bit of drama when you brought up Sara Al Madani’s voice note at dinner. Were you surprised at how mad Ayan was at you for doing that?
CS: No. Ayan is very emotional. It takes her a while to sort of compute stuff and even now we were laughing about it today because she goes, “It looks ridiculous that I am so angry at you.” But you know, to be fair, I had said I would wait for her before. I don’t know what she expected. We were having fun. No one thought it was that deep. And I think, as I said, if I had known it was from Lesa, I would have avoided that. I would have blown up that phone.
Ayan did get mad at Lesa in that moment, too. Do you think that was warranted, or was it an overreaction?
CS: I think now, understanding a little bit more about what’s happened in the voice note, and there’s quite a lot that’s going to unfold and you’ll see why she’s so upset at Lesa.
I was confused because they made up in the episode, so that wasn’t the reason they’re not speaking now. I’m guessing we’ll see more of that play out as they season goes?
CS: It’s not just the voice note. And a lot of it, you know, their relationship, it’s not to do with me. It looks like it’s to do with me. I’m sure I had some part of it somewhere. But like, I am not the thing that broke that relationship.
Sergio, how did you feel to see how much the other women didn’t want you to go on the Bali trip when you played that prank on them?
CS: They did not find that funny. I was more scared. I was going, “Let him just say it’s not true. It’s not true.”
SC: They were looking at me like, “Oh my god, is he really coming?”
When we spoke to Brooks, she was doubtful that your friendship with Taleen was genuine. Caroline, can you settle this once and for all?
CS: My friendship is genuine with Taleen. I think I started off thinking she wouldn’t be the type because she was so close to Brooks [and] we weren’t getting on. I thought that Taleen and I would not get on and, you know, Taleen is loud and she’s a bit different, but those are the things I enjoy about her now. So we have a genuine friendship. I love her and her husband and her kids. We see them outside of the friend group. So yeah, it is genuine.
Well, everything between Brooks and Taleen blew up at your house. Did you sage or do a cleanse of your new home after the “Dinner Party from Hell”?
CS: Do you know what’s terrible? I did. I’ll tell you what we did. I went and bought two of my own sages.
SC: Candles everywhere.
CS: And then we went and we bought crystals. We actually bought good energy, we bought one for protection, one for lies. I bought the store and re-energized my house and that won’t be happening again.
Which friendship is more repairable: Ayan and Lesa, you and Lesa, or Brooks and Taleen?
CS: Ayan and Lesa.
What needs to happen for them to come together again?
CS: Reunion, probably.
What do you hope to address at the reunion?
CS: My relationship with the women – how I think Sara and I have come apart quite a lot. So I’d quite like to address that and get some sort of resolution there and get it on a better track than it is. Obviously, Michael, my sugar daddy. I tried to say it with a straight face. And you know, just my relationship with Ayan, and just how that came about and why it came about the way it did.
What can you tease about the rest of this season?
CS: I think really the finale, and how I think you’ll really see what’s happened and why it happened, especially between Lesa and Chanel. Again, that it’s not down to me. I think this whole season so far it looks like I’ve broken everyone up, just because they want to be friends with me, which is just not true. But I am great. But, for you and me, I guess the rest of my birthday. Yeah, it was really lovely.
Oh! You also go to a psychic and she says you have a boy coming. Are there any updates on that front?
CS: That was crazy. Well, I mean, his father really wants the baby. Sergio really wants the baby.
SC: We’re two against one now, which is good.
CS: I’ll be the one. I’ve just spent two weeks with nearly nine teenagers so I would be quite happy not to see a baby right now.
SC: It’ll happen eventually, but I don’t know when. It’s slowly happening.
CS: He’s wearing me down. His ovaries are on fire. He’s made a pact with his father that I’ll never have to lift a finger.
