Dead by Daylight already boasts an enormous roster of original characters and horror legends from other franchises, including Resident Evil, Silent Hill, The Ring, Stranger Things, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Dungeons & Dragons, and the newly released Castlevania crossover. But an upcoming collaboration will add an even more unexpected pop culture character to the mix. Behaviour Interactive announced Monday that we can expect a Five Nights at Freddy’s crossover in Summer 2025.
In Dead by Daylight, five players enter a match. Four play Survivors, who are helpless and unarmed, but tasked with powering up generators and escaping the killing grounds. They are relentlessly hunted by a Killer, who has a variety of lethal powers at their disposal. It’s easy to see how the murderous animatronics that staff Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza could fit into this formula.

The Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise has grown to include a wide collection of games, novels, and even a film adaptation. It’s unclear how much content Behaviour will pull upon for this collaboration; some updates only add a Killer or a Survivor, while a full Chapter will include a Killer, a Survivor, and a new map. With such a wide library of games, it’ll be interesting to see what Behaviour uses as inspiration for the Killer and its abilities.
Dead by Daylight also enables its Killers to complete some gory animations. Each Killer has their own “Momento Mori” scene, showing how they personally eliminate a hapless Survivor. I’m already nervous thinking about what it might look like for Freddy Fazbear to murder someone with his bear hands. Luckily, I don’t have to worry about this haunting my dreams for another year or so.
The post Dead by Daylight to collab with Five Nights at Freddy’s, because of course appeared first on Polygon.
