The YES Network, TV home of the New York Yankees, is expanding into animation with a turn-back-the-clock Saturday morning series called Bronx Buds.
The regional sports network will start streaming HexClad Presents Bronx Buds (the full name of the show, with kitchenware sponsor) on August 17. The series, whose 7-minute episodes will drop each Saturday, is produced exclusively for the YES App in partnership with Tzero Studios.
The series tracks a fictitious, Bronx-based youth baseball team, The Pinstripes, “introducing laughter, life lessons, unexpected curveballs and unbreakable friendships,” according to a press release.
Registered YES App users in the network’s regional coverage territory, which spans New York state, Connecticut, north and central New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania, will be able to watch the show. Subscribers to the YES national feed across the U.S. who have signed up for the YES App will also have access.
Voicing the animated characters will be Tzero Studios co-founders Justin Shenkarow and Tom Borowski. Shenkarow voiced the character Harold Berman on Hey Arnold! In addition to that Nickelodeon mainstay, Tzero Studios workers helping to make Bronx Buds have also worked on animated titles like SpongeBob SquarePants, Beavis and Butthead and Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas.
New episodes are slated to premiere August 17, 24 and 31; September 21 and 28; and October 5.
HexClad Presents Bronx Buds is the latest addition to the YES App’s roster of original programming made exclusively for the app. Other series such as The Story of My Number Presented by New York Lottery, Home Plate: New York, The Balance and Bronx Beat.
This series is a component of HexClad’s larger partnership as the “Official Kitchenware Partner” of the YES Network and the New York Yankees, which was announced earlier this year. The multi-year partnership uniquely pairs the iconic baseball franchise and network with the world’s most innovative kitchenware brand across creative initiatives.
