A warrant has been issued for the arrest of British reality TV icon Katie Price.
The influencer and former glamor model failed to attend a bankruptcy court hearing on Tuesday, despite receiving “very clear warnings” she should appear. This led Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Catherine Burton to issue an arrest warrant.
Price is known for reality shows such as Katie & Peter and Katie Price: My Crazy Life, for appearing on the fifteenth season of Big Brother UK and as a regular panellist on ITV daytime show Loose Women.
She was initially best known publicly as a glamor model but has has also written several autobiographies, novels and children’s books, and had other business ventures. However, she declared her first bankruptcy in 2019 before declaring another over an unpaid tax bill of over £760,000 ($900,000).
Price received a demand for payment of debts from government body HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in October last year.
According to the BBC, a court heard she had not responded to HMRC and had provided no reason for her absence from this week’s hearing.
“It is in my judgment necessary that the court issue a warrant for Ms Price’s arrest,” said Judge Burton. “She has no real excuse in failing to attend today’s hearing. The reason for her absence today is irrelevant.”
