Reed Hastings on Tuesday went all in on his support for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential bid.
The Netflix co-founder and executive chairman donated $7 million to a super PAC linked to Harris, The Information reported.
It was the largest donation he had ever given to a single candidate, he told the outlet.
Representatives for Hastings at Netflix declined to provide further comment on his donation.
Hastings was initially slow to endorse Harris after President Joe Biden ended his run and passed the baton to her.
Hastings made a Sunday X post shortly after Biden’s announcement, writing: “Dem delegates need to pick a swing state winner.”
But Harris shored up support within the Democratic party swiftly, securing enough delegates to secure the nomination on Monday.
She’s met the threshold of 1,976 pledged delegates, according to calculations by CNN, Bloomberg, and The Wall Street Journal.
Harris also quickly secured the backing of key Democratic players, such as Rep. Nancy Pelosi, former President Bill Clinton, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Shortly after Harris got the Democratic delegates she needed, Hastings congratulated her on X and expressed his support for her 2024 run.
Congrats to Kamala Harris — now it is time to win

Hastings was one of the Democratic megadonors who publicly called on Biden to quit the race.
“Biden needs to step aside to allow a vigorous Democratic leader to beat Trump and keep us safe and prosperous,” Hastings said in an email to The New York Times, per a report on July 3.
Billionaires and business leaders have now started coming out in support of Harris. This includes Alex Soros, the son of investor George Soros and head of Soros Fund Management.
“It’s time for us all to unite around Kamala Harris and beat Donald Trump. She is the best and most qualified candidate we have. Long live the American Dream!” Soros posted on X following Biden’s announcement.
Melinda French Gates has also endorsed Harris, citing the vice president’s track record of supporting abortion rights.
And while the endorsements flow in, Harris’ campaign has also been raking in big donor bucks. She secured a record-breaking $81 million in donations in the first 24 hours of her campaign.
