Stardew Valley players on console and mobile have been waiting patiently for the 1.6 update to come to console and mobile — and they’ll have to wait a bit longer. Though the 1.6 update was released for Windows PC players in March, the update is taking longer for Android and Apple devices, as well as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone posted to X on Monday with an update: The console and mobile ports, alongside the next PC update, “are still in progress,” he said.
“I know it is taking a long time, its on my mind every minute,” Barone wrote. “I have personally been working on the mobile port every day. I will announce when there is any meaningful news (e.g. a release date). hope youre having a good summer.”

Thankfully, Stardew Valley players are being very kind about the delay — lots of the comments under the post are thanking Barone for his work on the game, and telling him to take his time with the update. Barone noted that he’s “personally” working on the mobile port (and The Secret Police has been credited for mobile on the Stardew Valley FAQ, too). Sickhead Games is responsible for the console ports, according to the FAQ.
For reference, Stardew Valley’s 1.5 update was released Dec. 21, 2020, on PC, and came to consoles on Feb. 11, 2021.
Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update is bigger than people expected: It’s got a new farm type, two mini festivals, a new three-day Spring festival, and an event for summer. Barone also added a massive list of smaller features and improvements for quality of life in the game. All of Stardew Valley’s updates, regardless of size, have been free — and Barone intends to keep it that way. In response to a player thanking him for the deed, Barone asked to be held accountable on it: “I swear on the honor of my family name, i will never charge money for a DLC or update for as long as I live. Screencap this and shame me if I ever violate this oath.”
