Donald Trump’s estranged niece Mary Trump has gone viral with her comment about Kamala Harris.
The psychologist, who is a vocal critic of her uncle, appears to be endorsing the vice president in November’s general election. On Sunday, Mary Trump took aim at Donald Trump in a post on X, formerly Twitter, along with seemingly throwing her support behind Harris.
“I finally agree with Donald: It would be a huge mistake to elect the oldest candidate in American history,” she wrote, adding the hashtag “#KamalaHarris2024.”
At the time of publishing, Mary Trump’s post has received almost 200,000 views.
Trump was referencing the Republican Party’s attacks on Joe Biden‘s age and claims of a cognitive decline, with political opponents claiming the President is not mentally fit to run.
Biden announced that he was exiting the race for his party’s nomination on Sunday, following calls from celebrity supporters and fellow Democrats. He was the presumptive Democratic candidate, after landing enough delegate votes in the presidential primaries.
With 81-year-old Biden stepping away, Donald Trump, at 78 years old, is now the oldest remaining presidential candidate.
Ahead of the 2020 general election, many Republican figures cited Biden’s age as a reason he shouldn’t be elected as president. Biden was 77 years old at the time.
However, Trump has avoided attacks on Biden’s age.
In a post to Truth Social in May, the business mogul wrote: “JOE BIDEN IS NOT TOO OLD TO BE PRESIDENT—NOT EVEN CLOSE—BUT HE IS TOO INCOMPETENT AND CORRUPT!”
Harris later confirmed she planned to “earn and win” the Democratic nomination. In a post to X, the 59-year-old attorney said she was “honored” to have “the President’s endorsement.”
“On behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and for his decades of service to our country,” Harris wrote on Sunday.
“I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party—and unite our nation—to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda. If you’re with me, add a donation right now.”
The daughter of Donald Trump’s older brother Fred Trump Jr., Mary Trump has long spoken out against her uncle.
In 2020, Mary Trump released Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man, a tell-all book claimed to shine “a bright light on the dark history” of the Trump family.
Following the first debate against Biden and Donald Trump in June—in which Biden was heavily criticized for his performance—Mary Trump said she still believed the President had the best chance of beating her uncle.
“I don’t believe that Pres. Biden is the only person who can beat Donald. But I do believe he is the person who has the best chance to beat him,” she wrote on her Substack blog.
Although, she did describe the debate as a “bad night” for Biden. She also hit out at Trump, calling the Republican politician “the worst, weakest, most traitorous candidate for the presidency in this country’s history.”
