T-shirts featuring a defiant image of bloodied Donald Trump with his fist in the air are mushrooming online and in stores just hours after the former U.S. president survived an attempt on his life at a campaign rally that left him slightly injured but politically emboldened.
The shooting targeting the Republican frontrunner at a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday left one spectator dead and two severely injured, the U.S. Secret Service said in a statement. Trump was bleeding from his right ear as he was whisked off stage after the attack. The gunman, a 20-year-old man, was immediately shot dead by the agency.
Trump backers are already trying to take advantage of the assassination attempt to rally support for his reelection bid — and make money in the meantime.
The HodgeTwins, a content creator, advertised on X photos of T-shirts with the message “Fight! Fight! Fight!” and promising that “100% of profits from this shirt go to Trump’s campaign.”
Another promo image showed a man wearing a shirt with the message: “Shooting Makes Me Stronger.” Another says “I Will Never Stop.”
Caffeine & Kaspa, a Florida-based X user who describes himself as a “Tesla fanatic” and a “crypto investor,” had even more merch. “Trump shirt with fist in the air! Also have mugs, stickers, buttons, and more!” he said.
The trend was not confined to the U.S. The shooting T-shirts appeared to be already on sale in a store in Yiwu, China, and across several online Chinese vendors.
