Joe Alwyn, Alexa Chung, and Alexa Chung’s Mom Hit Up Wimbledon for Some Family Fun

Somewhere, someone has a little notebook with a list titled “People Who Went to Wimbledon This Week Who Were Not Kate Middleton.” That someone, no doubt, just heaved a wistful little sigh and added Joe Alwyn and Alexa Chung to that list. It’s important to keep track of these things.

For that list-maker’s benefit: Go ahead and add Alexa Chung’s mom (Gillian Chung)—because, sure!—and The White Lotus’ Leo Woodall and Heartstopper’s William Gao too.

A source tells Vanity Fair that Chung and Alwyn were among a group invited to attend Wimbledon Wednesday by Ralph Lauren and were only incidentally seated next to each other in the Ralph Lauren Suite at the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. The label is the longtime official outfitter of the iconic Grand Slam tournament.

Alwyn and Chung took in the match together, both, of course, decked out in offerings from the brand’s lines. Chung wore a beige cable-knit cardigan and an ivory A-line skirt, while Alwyn wore white trousers, navy canvas shoes, and several shirts to take in the matches.

In a photo shared by the brand on Instagram, Alwyn is pictured posing in dark sunglasses. One shirt may be plenty for some people, but not Alwyn. Not on Wednesday. The Kinds of Kindness actor is wearing a navy t-shirt underneath a navy button-down collared long-sleeve shirt with white pinstripes, and on top of that, another collared shirt, that one made of heavier-looking denim. Who knows if there are even more shirts hiding where we can’t see them?

The notoriously private Alwyn did not share any snaps from the day on his own social media accounts, but Chung did. The Brit shared several photos in a carousel on her Instagram grid Thursday, as well as a series of photos of the day in her Stories, including one of her mom decked out in a pink floral dress.

“Mother enjoyed the tennis,” she wrote alongside the pic.
