Michael Easton is bidding farewell to General Hospital.
The seasoned soap star took to Instagram on Wednesday to break the news of his departure, in which he thanked fans for their “kindness,” per Soap Opera Digest. He kicked off his video message by teasing that he’s “always been partial to the Irish goodbye,” explaining that “that’s where you leave the party without actually telling anyone youâre gone.”
“But I thought you all deserved better,” he continued. “So I just want to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.”
Gushing that he’s “loved every minute that [he’s] been here,” he extended his gratitude to “the entire cast and crew for allowing [him] to share their stage this past 10 years,” prior to sharing the love with fans.
âMost importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love youâve shown me and my family,” he added. “I wonât ever forget you. And as I walk out of here for the last time, and with apologies to Lou Gehrig, I feel like the luckiest man on the face of the earth.”
Easton’s other soap credits include Days of Our Lives, Port Charles, and One Life to Live. He first appeared on General Hospital in 2012, but did not take on his current role of Dr. Hamilton Finn until 2016. Across his tenure on the show, he has appeared in over 940 episodes.
Soap Opera Digest and TVLine report that Easton’s final General Hospital episode is set to air Thursday, June 27.
