Far-left Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) trails her Democratic primary challenger in Missouri, according to a new poll which months ago accurately predicted fellow “Squad” member Rep. Jamaal Bowmanâs (D-NY) crushing defeat.
The Mellman Group survey of 400 voters in Missouriâs 1st Congressional District, released Wednesday, has Bush 1 point behind St. Louis County prosecuting attorney Wesley Bell ahead of the Aug. 6 primary.
Bush has 42% support compared to Bellâs 43% backing.
Bell also holds advantages over Bush in terms of his job rating and the strength of his support.
Thirty-nine percent of voters responded that their support of the prosecutor was âstrongâ compared to 33% for Bush. Bellâs job performance rating was measured at 61% positive, 34 points higher than the congresswomanâs 49% positive rating.
Among 1st District residents that voted in the last three primaries, Bellâs lead expands to 10 points (49%-39%).
The poll, conducted for Democratic Majority for Israel advocacy group between June 18-22, shows 11% of voters are still undecided, but support for Bell surging.
In January, the pollster found Bell garnering only 29% support, 16 points behind Bushâs 45% backing.
âBellâs vote and margin increased across every major demographic â among whites and Blacks, among men and women, among those over and under 50 years old, and both inside and outside the city of St. Louis,â the poll noted.
âThis primary race is essentially tied but clearly moving in Wesley Bellâs direction,â it added.
In April, The Mellman Group found that Westchester County Executive George Latimer held a 17-point lead over Bowman in New Yorkâs 16th District primary horse race.
Latimer defeated Bowman on Tuesday by a 16.8 point margin.
Like Bowman, Bush was an early supporter of a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war and has been critical of the Jewish State in the aftermath of the Oct. 7, 2023 terrorist attack.
The 47-year-old congresswoman was one of only two House lawmakers â along with Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) â to vote against a measure in February seeking to ban the Hamas terrorists involved in last Octoberâs attack on Israel from ever entering the US.
Last year, Bush was one of nine House Democrats opposed to a resolution condemning Hamas for the attack that left 1,400 people dead.
She has also accused Israel of conducting an âethnic cleansing campaignâ in Gaza.
Pollster Mark Mellman is also the chairman of the Democratic Majority for Israel political action committee. His liberal super PAC endorsed Bell and Latimer in April.
