All NJ Transit and Amtrak trains out of New York Penn Station have been halted for the second time this week after an equipment failure.
A “malfunctioning circuit breaker” has caused a power outage between New York Penn Station and Newark Penn Station, according to the railway.
All scheduled Amtrak trains between 30th Street Philadelphia and New Haven have been suspended “until further notice,” Amtrak told riders around 4 p.m.
The malfunction was announced about 3:25 p.m. on Thursday — leaving thousands of daily commuters stranded.
Amtrak also noted that a brush fire has broken out east of the Newark station.
It was not immediately clear if the fire is related to the power outage.
