During today’s Nintendo Direct, Subblink announced that Hello Kitty Island Adventure is going cross-platform, starting with PC and Nintendo Switch in 2025. Prior to this, the cozy mobile life simulator launched as an Apple Arcade exclusive in 2023. After its initial timed console exclusivity with Nintendo, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 users can join Hello Kitty and her friends too.
Despite the initial memes, Hello Kitty Island Adventure was critically acclaimed. Developer Sunblink won a Webby People’s Voice Award for Best Kids and Family Games and was named Apple Arcade Game of the Year. Additionally, Hello Kitty Island Adventure was nominated for Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards 2023, but lost to Honkai: Star Rail.
“The tremendous response from fans and critics for our initial release was beyond our wildest dreams,” said Chelsea Howe, Chief Product Officer at Sunblink. “We are so excited to bring these charming, cozy island vibes to more players next year. Just as we’ve done since launch, we’ll continue adding new features, storylines, and rewards to the game in the coming months so all players, regardless of platform, get the absolute best experience with no compromises.”
In Hello Kitty Island Adventure, players help Hello Kitty and her friends restore an abandoned theme park back to its former glory. The title draws inspiration from Animal Crossing and Breath of the Wild in its over 100 hours of gameplay. Players explore the island to collect materials, advance quests, craft items and build relationships with the cast.
Notably, Hello Kitty Island Adventure does not have any microtransactions. Sunblink regularly updates the game with free content and there are plenty of character and home customization options to collect.
Gamers can play Hello Kitty Island Adventure alone or with friends on PC and Nintendo Switch in 2025.
