Taylor Swift’s involvement with the Kansas City Chiefs has captivated fans and the NFL community, including Kansas City Chiefs’ CEO Clark Hunt.
Hunt recently praised the singer and her relationship with the team’s tight end, Travis Kelce, at an Athletes in Action event in Ohio on Saturday, June 15. During the event, the CEO shared his enthusiasm for the high-profile romance, describing it as an “amazing storyline” from the past year.
“First of all, we’re so happy for Travis and Taylor, what a great couple. My family’s been big fans of hers for a very long time, so it’s now nice to have her as big fans of the Chiefs,” he stated, as captured by a fan and circulated on TikTok.
When asked about the financial impact of Swift’s presence on the team, Hunt admitted it was “hard to quantify.” He recounted a visit to the NFL headquarters shortly after the 34-year-old pop star attended her first Chiefs game. “I had never seen the marketing people in the league office that excited. They were giddy, they were jumping around. So I think that tells you,” 59-year-old Hunt said.
Fans were quick to comment how Swift has impacted their own relationship with the NFL, leaving comments like, “Taylor has brought me back to football and my dad is so happy!” and “Love this acknowledgement and respect for Taylor .” One Swiftie from across the world recounted her experience with football, commenting, “Taylor created chiefs fans from across the globe. I’m Aussie and never watched American football before and now I’m all over it haha not as exciting as our Aussie rules (sorry).”
Swift’s engagement with the team extended to their recent Super Bowl LVIII ring ceremony on Thursday, June 13. Although she was in Liverpool, England, at the time, Swift participated virtually via an Instagram Live. Hunt affirmed the “Getaway Car” singer’s status as a dedicated member of the Chiefs fandom, saying, “She is in Liverpool this week and we had a ring ceremony a couple of nights ago, which she stayed up for, it was about 4 a.m. in Liverpool, and she sent a social media communication that used the word, ‘we’ — so she is definitely part of the Chiefs Kingdom.”
Meanwhile, Kelce, 34, recently secured a two-year contract extension with the Chiefs, so it looks like Swift will be hanging around the stadium for a bit longer, at least.
