Discretion was never on the menu for Brooke Shields at the Tony Awards 2024. The actor, who recently underwent surgery on both feet, attended the awards on June 16 in a floor-grazing Monique Lhuillier gown, which would have easily hid a more dainty sneaker or even a low-profile sandal. But no. That’s not the Brooke Shields way.
Rather than shuffle the carpet in a pair of orthopedic slides, Shields loudly and proudly sported a pair of Crocs. Somehow, she managed to find a pair in the exact same shade of lemon yellow as her gown. Tastefully, she left the Jibbitz at home.
Note that she wore the heel strap at the front of the shoe, rather than in sport mode with the strap pushed back. This is the Croc equivalent of wearing black-tie stilettos, you’ll simply have to believe me.
With the rest of her look making such a bold statement (that statement being, “I refuse to suffer for the sake of fashion”), Shields kept the accessories minimal, opting for a subtle pair of pearl earrings and a slim box clutch. When she said she was in her “fuck it era,” she meant it!

Shields revealed on June 15 that she underwent double foot surgery on Instagram, sharing a photo of both feet clad in surgical booties. “The feet pics are about to level up,” she captioned the pic.
On the red carpet, Shields told People, “I got my Crocs! I couldn’t do this in heels!”
The 59-year-old actor, who is the president of the Actors Equity Association added that she’d love to return to the stage in a comedy/drama. “Broadway welcomed me when nobody else was welcoming me,” she continued. “I started going to Broadway when I was a little, little girl, so to me it’s a part of my life.”
It’ll be hard to forget Brooke Shields’s Tony Awards 2024 Crocs, so in a way, Brooke Shields will always be a part of Broadway, too.
