A carjacker swiped a mom’s idling minivan — with a 6-month-old baby inside — in The Bronx on Sunday, according to cops.
The suspect was eventually nabbed and the baby found safe, authorities said.
The car thief had gotten behind the wheel of the gold 2000 Chrysler minivan at the corner of East 46th Street and Third Avenue around 11:30 a.m. and took off, NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry said on X after the troubling heist.
The baby was in the back seat, he wrote.
About a half-hour later, Daughtry provided an update.
“That’s to the public’s assistance and the great work by the men and woman of NYPD, the 6-month-old has been found safe and a suspect has been taken into custody,” he wrote.
The 53-year-old suspect has not been officially charged and has been identified as a person of interest in the case, law-enforcement sources told The Post.
Sources said the alleged carjacker was picked up walking down East 140th Street.
He has several prior arrests, including a grand-larceny-auto rap in November, when he was charged with stealing a Jeep Liberty on East 141st Street in The Bronx, sources said.
