There was no way Whoopi Goldberg was going to miss the first episode of The View following Donald Trump‘s guilty verdict. While the longtime moderator is typically off on Fridays, the hit daytime talk show decided to make an abrupt schedule change so she could be included in this morning’s highly anticipated Hot Topics segment.
The news came mere hours after a New York jury found Trump guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in his criminal hush money case.
“TOMORROW: All six of #TheView co-hosts will join the Hot Topics table LIVE to discuss former Pres. Trump being found guilty in his criminal hush money trial,” the show’s X (formerly known as Twitter) handle posted Thursday night (May 30).
Ticket distributor 1iota also revealed that a new taping had been added for fans hoping to nab a spot in the live studio audience.
“Hope we can find some Hot Topics to discuss…,” executive producer Brian Teta cheekily commented.
Trump’s criminal trial has been a frequent Hot Topic since it kicked off in mid-April. During the May 14 episode of The View, co-host Sunny Hostin, who attended the trial, told the panel her takeaways from her time in the courtroom.
“People have been reporting that he is asleep. He is not asleep. He is enraged,” she said. “That’s why I think he’s so orange, because I think it’s red underneath.”
Meanwhile, fans of The View are looking forward to having all six co-hosts weigh in on the former president’s guilty verdict.
“Hahaha. I knew Whoopi wasn’t gonna take this Friday off. She probably can’t sleep waiting for tomorrow’s show,” one wrote, while another added, “Looking forward to it, especially with Joy. I bet she’ll be on cloud 9!”
A third person said, “Don’t you mean #ConvictedFelonTrump ? Can’t wait to watch the show.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
