Daisy Ridley just became the latest actress to receive a personal invitation to join Sister Act 3 by Whoopi Goldberg herself.
Ridley stopped by this morning’s episode of The View to promote her new film Young Woman and the Sea. However, Ana Navarro quickly pointed out that acting wasn’t the only talent Ridley had up her sleeve.
“You can sing for real. You even recorded a song from A Chorus Line with Barbra Streisand and Anne Hathaway on Barbra’s 2016 album Encore,” she said, suggesting that Ridley consider doing a Broadway musical or a movie musical like Sister Act 3.
Goldberg, who previously confirmed the threequel, then chimed in with her thoughts.
“You know I just invited her to do that,” the EGOT recipient said, to which Navarro replied, “I want to repeat it. I want to make this happen. Can I make 10 percent?”
According to Ridley — who rose to fame for her role in the Star Wars franchise — it would be a dream come true to star in a musical.
“I have honestly been trying to do a musical for so long,” she admitted. “I have been shameless on TV shows talking about it. The right thing has not yet come along.”
Goldberg then passed Ridley a notecard that seemingly had her phone number written down, urging the actress to “stay in touch.”
“Oh my God!” a practically speechless Ridley responded. “Wow. Overcome. Wow.”
Goldberg concluded the interview by telling Ridley she’d “see [her] on set.”
Sister Act 3 was first confirmed back in 2020, with Goldberg and Tyler Perry serving as producers of the film. Goldberg has since invited tons of fellow celebrities to join the movie, from Sheryl Lee Ralph — who starred in the 1993 sequel — to Pope Francis.
“It’s still on the way! It’s percolating,” she told People in March 2024 when asked for the status of the flick. “They have not said, ‘We’re over you and this movie.’ … We’re still in the process of writing the script.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
