Netflix is a Joke Fest kicked off on Thursday (May 2), and boasts a vast array of comics across its 12-day lineup. Just some notable names include Ali Wong, Kevin Hart, Maya Rudolph Sebastian Maniscalco and Katt Williams, and the latter’s comedy special, titled Katt Williams: Woke Foke, is coming to you live tonight.
“No-holds-barred comedian and expert provocateur Katt Williams is testing limits again,” Netflix’s Tudum teased of the upcoming special. “You can bet on just about anything happening except the predictable — that isn’t Williams’ style.”
This was echoed by Netflix’s vice president of standup and comedy formats Robbie Praw, who told The New York Times that Williams is “one of the most exceptional improvisational comedians of our time.”
“He does often change his material close to tapings, which is a key reason why he was the perfect person to be our second live special,” he added. “Because there is something super exciting about that. When there’s no script, there’s no net.”
Williams was the subject of a viral interview on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast in January, where he sparked an uproar after slamming several other Black comedians.
Williams has also previously released Katt Williams: World War III (2022) and Katt Williams: Great America (2018) on the streamer. While he will be performing live from Inglewood, California’s YouTube Theater, those at home can luckily tune in from the comfort of their own couch to see what Williams has in store.
